Who’s that knocking on my door…

This curious fella was captured on a dive in Bonaire. The green moray eel (Gymnothorax funebris) is a large marine species commonly found in the Atlantic Ocean, particularly in the coral reefs of the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico. Characterized by its vibrant greenish-yellow coloration and slender, elongated body, it can reach lengths of up to 8.2 feet (2.5 meters). Despite their intimidating appearance, green morays are generally shy and prefer to hide in crevices or underwater caves during the day, emerging primarily at night to hunt. Their diet mainly consists of fish, squid, and crustaceans. These eels are equipped with a pair of strong jaws and sharp teeth that enable them to grasp and swallow prey whole. While they possess a formidable bite, green morays are not typically aggressive towards humans and are considered a less dangerous species compared to some other marine predators.
